I’ve been reading a book called, The Deborah Mantle by Christy Johnson. This morning as I was

reading she quoted Hebrews 5:12-14. It states, “ In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.” She goes on to say in her book that we will know the spiritually mature, as opposed to the spiritually immature, because they are able to distinguish good from evil. This led me to also think about the scripture that says we will know them by their fruit. (Matthew 7:16)
As Christ followers I think it’s important that we invite the Holy Spirit to search our hearts and ask Jesus to expose where we are on our walk with Him. It’s important that we are moving from milk to solid foods as we walk with Jesus. We are to become more and more Christ-like over our lifetime. So, I want to ask you a few questions today.
*Are you on solid food or milk?
*What fruit is being grown in your life?
*Are you able to distinguish between good and evil?
We can’t afford to be tossed back and forth with the culture of today. It’s filled with half truths and deception on every corner. If we are not spiritually mature enough to discern through the noise we will be a part of the problem. The devil disguises himself as “the angel of light”.
(2 Corinthians 11:14) Really think about that.
If we are jumping on every bandwagon that comes on the scene because it sounds good then thats a problem. It is necessary that we take every thought, agenda, opinion, stance, movement, ideology, trend, news report and social media trend to the standard of the Word of God. We must hold everything up to the light of His word and the discernment He gives us. If we rationalize what we see in the culture based on half truths that the devil baits us with -then we are not on solid food and can not distinguish good and evil.
We must be able to see things through the lens of God’s word not what our flesh thinks is best. If we are walking in a spirit of fear and in bondage to the fear of man then we are left ineffective for the Kingdom of God. We will not produce lasting fruit. The modern church has been on a steady diet of milk for far too long. No where in the Bible does it tell Christ followers to sit on the sideline, be quiet and ignore what is going on in your culture. We have a mess on our hands because the kingdom of darkness has been allowed to run rampant. The church for far too long has kept to ourselves so we don’t rock the boat. I’ve been guilty of this and can see most have in our generation.
Jesus came as a lamb but He also is the lion! His word causes division because it is living and active. It confronts sin and demons. Our flesh doesn’t like that-we are selfish by nature. His loving kindness does lead to repentance. He gave everything on the cross-it cost Jesus everything. He freely gave us everything. The cross demands a response-Jesus doesn’t leave us in our sinful state-He transforms us period.
People who don’t know Jesus see Him as the problem and milk fed baby christians never get fully transformed and on mission because they are still part of the world. The way our world is going demands a response either for Jesus or not. There is no middle ground. We have been thrust onto a battlefield that we didn’t choose -yet here we are. So, its imperative we get our spirit right and in position for whatever marching orders God has for us. You are on a battlefield whether you want to believe it or not. Our battles for this generation our fought in the spiritual realm. We must learn to fight the darkness with prayer, fasting and sowing His word into tis dark world. Once we clear the territory in the spiritual realm -this will clear the way for people to hear again. We are not fighting flesh and blood and we need to wake up to how to fight the darkness in our society. This isn't for a few but all Christ followers! This unity will take ground.
It’s time to take a stand for your family and future generations. It’s time to put on your armor and decree God’s word over yourself, family and our nation. It’s time to take back territory from the hands of the enemy-and our weapons are spiritual! We bind and loose and decree!
2 Corinthians 10:3-6 (NIV) says, “3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 6 And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.”
His word is our weapon! As we stand on the promises of His word and speak them over lies we break off the demonic strongholds. We demolish anything that comes up against God! Our prayers are effective and powerful according to James 5:16. Jesus is calling us to use our voices and decree His words. Let’s take back what the enemy has stolen. You have His authority in you! What mountain is the Holy Spirit calling you to fight for? I know mine is family! So, while I pray for a lot of things-I'm contending for family. How about you?
In Him,
Heather Bradley
