Victory Comes From The Battlefield

Are you trapped in a false stronghold that feels like a prison cell or are you protected in the freedom of the stronghold of Jesus? Psalm 27:1 says, The Lord is my light and salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

I remember years of my life being trapped in the bondage of fear. I know that this was something others in my family had experienced too. In fact it had been passed down from one generation to another just like all the rest of my DNA. Maybe fear isn’t your stronghold but you carry anger. Maybe you carry a poverty mindset, alcoholism, feel like you don’t belong or are a product of generations of divorce. These patterns are passed down from person to person until someone says no more-take a look at your family line and ask yourself if you see a pattern? People might even say oh that’s just the way it is in our family-a clue to a bad stronghold.

The Bible is full of scriptures about Jesus being called our stronghold. A stronghold is essentially a fortified place to resist attacks of an enemy. Think back in history to castles. They built themselves an entire stronghold to live in protection from their enemy.

The thing with spiritual warfare is the enemy likes to trap us in lies and false prisons that feel like a stronghold-only these types of strongholds we desperately want to be free from. We are not safe in these false strongholds because they are prison cells.

If we do not understand who we are in Jesus and the authority He has put in us then we leave ourselves open to these traps. When I was trapped by fear it did exactly what the enemy does best-fear stole from me. John 10:10 says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” See Jesus wants us to live in abundance. To live in freedom and purpose. The enemy wants to steal our inheritance, purpose, and assignments that Jesus has invited us into. He wants to destroy our marriages and children’s lives too. Our habits, patterns, and mindsets need to be renewed by the power of God’s word to break off these mindsets we are stuck in.

When I began really taking fear seriously and decided no more I was met with so much push back from the enemy. He didn’t want me to be free. See we don’t fight with weapons here in the natural but with supernatural weapons. 2 Corinthians10:3-4 says, “ For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.”

So, ask yourself today what stronghold needs to come down? Here’s the thing-I had a choice to make. Stay in bondage to fear and miss the assignment God has given me-and let the spirit of fear be passed down and  ruin my children’s lives or take a stand. I chose to take a stand and figure this thing out. I wanted Jesus to be my stronghold-see in Jesus nothing can touch me. Even in death I’m with Him.

Jesus had already freely given me everything I needed to live in this place of victory, but my mindset needed to catch up with the scriptures. If you want to see freedom in your life and your families lives you need to really get serious about what the enemy has done.

Jesus will equip you to take a stand and walk in freedom first for your then your family. We can only have victory if we fight the battle!

How to pull down the enemy’s stronghold so you can stay fortified in the stronghold of Jesus:

  1. Pick out scriptures that speak to your situation and decree them as prayers over you and your family. You have to know what the word of God says in order to replace the lies you have believed.

  2. Give the enemy an eviction notice. Tell him no more and stick to it. Repent and bind the enemy from operating in your life. Do not back down because it will heat up before you walk in victory.

  3. Gather others to pray with you.

  4. Take communion daily.

  5. Remember you have authority and the Holy Spirit is in you to guide you on this journey.

  6. Learn what the armor of God is and wear it spiritually.

  7. Do a study on what the Bible says about who you are as a child of Jesus. I didn’t feel these things at all. I took ahold of it in faith till His truths became my feelings and how I saw myself.

  8. Allow others in to strengthen you and encourage you. If you need Christian counseling to help then do whatever it takes. We offer Jesus what we have in faith and trust He will do what He needs to supernaturally.

In Him,

Heather Bradley
