The Hope of Being Remembered

God Has a Book With Your Name In It

Have you ever had one of those moments where you just needed to know you weren’t overlooked? That God saw you… really saw you? I think we all have. And tucked away in the book of Malachi is this beautiful, hope-filled reminder that God does more than notice us—He actually writes down our faithfulness.

Malachi says it this way:

“Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard.A scroll of remembrance was written in His presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honored His name.”Malachi 3:16 (NIV)

Take that in for a second. God leans in when we talk about Him. He hears. He remembers. And He keeps record—not to shame us, but to honor us. This isn’t a book of failures or missteps. It’s a book of remembrance… a book of the moments you trusted Him when no one saw, the prayers you whispered when your heart was breaking, the ways you honored His name even in seasons you didn’t understand.

God Remembers You—Deeply and Intentionally

There’s something profoundly comforting about that. We live in a world where so many things feel fleeting… friendships, commitments, even our own sense of purpose at times. But God is not casual about you. He remembers every detail. Every act of faithfulness. Every tear that fell while you held on to hope.

And maybe the best part? While He remembers the good, He chooses not to remember the bad.

Scripture makes this so clear:

“For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”Hebrews 8:12

“As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.”Psalm 103:12

How incredible is that? The God who knows everything decides to forget the one thing that could condemn us—our sin. He’s not keeping a record of wrongs like we sometimes imagine Him to be. He’s keeping a record of love, devotion, and faithfulness.

If God Remembers, Maybe We Should Too

Malachi’s “book of remembrance” isn’t just about God’s heart toward us. It also invites us to build a rhythm of remembering in our own lives.

We are forgetful people—forgetful of blessings, of answered prayers, of moments God carried us. And when we forget, fear and anxiety grow louder. But when we remember? Our faith wakes back up.

Maybe this week, choose one simple way to remember what God has done:

  • Write down three ways He showed up for you this past year

  • Revisit old journal entries where you prayed for things you’re living in now

  • Tell someone a story of God’s faithfulness in your life

  • Sit with Him and thank Him for the things you’ve overlooked

There is power in remembering. It repositions our hearts and reminds us that God has been faithful every step of the way… even the steps that felt impossible.

You Are Seen. You Are Known. You Are Remembered.

If you ever wonder whether your obedience matters… it does.If you ever question whether your prayers are noticed… they are.If you ever feel like God has forgotten you… He hasn’t.

Your name, your story, your faith—it’s written in His book.

And just like He remembers you, you can remember Him.Sometimes hope grows simply by looking back and seeing how far He’s brought you.

In Him,
