Our Mission Doesn't Change

Writer's picture: Heather BradleyHeather Bradley

Hey friends, as we stand looking out at only the beginning of 2024, do you ever find yourself looking out and feeling a bit weary? The world seems to be caught in the grip of war, talk of more sicknesses, an election and there's an identity crisis sweeping through an entire generation. Our kids are in a 911. The gates of hell appear wide open, and it's our calling as the church to stand up and close them. Jesus already assured us that the gates of hell would not prevail in Matthew 16:17-19. Then why does it look like they are?

This is a great question to ask ourselves? If we are not taking a stand in prayer and interceding then we are allowing the gates to stay open.

The other day, I was sharing the latest happenings in the USA with my son, who is currently on the mission field abroad. He interrupted me with a statement that was spoken like a true 18 year. , "Mom, who cares if there is war all over the world? Our mission doesn't change!" His words hit me like a ton of bricks.I felt the power of Jesus leap in me. In the midst of global turmoil, he reminded me that regardless of the circumstances, Jesus remains “the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13). Our mission, given by Jesus, stays constant.

It might sound harsh to say, "Who cares if there is war?" But what he meant was that our mission to Jesus should not waver based on whether life is good or bad. Living for Jesus means living with a mission – to share the good news, worship Him, intercede, and live our lives for others, whatever that may look like individually. It may mean He is calling some of you to join your school board, start a ministry, volunteer at a pregnancy resource center or even go into the secular realm of politics. Some of us are called to pray and some are also called to go. Jesus is always inviting us to join His mission, interrupting our plans to lead us toward something far better than we could imagine. Start by asking yourself what you feel passionate about?

Recently, I attended a powerful conference called The Freedom Tour, led by Jenn Donnelly, the founder of the Her Voice Movement. This movement is a clarion call for Christ-followers to dedicate this year to fasting, praying, and interceding for our nation. The primary focus is on what is happening to our children – a demonic agenda pushing confusion into their identities. An agenda to tear apart families the way God intended them to be. Our freedoms are being slowly stripped from us.

If you've been wondering how to respond to the challenges around you, let me tell you – this movement is for you! Intentional fasting and praying are accessible to everyone. It's our way of fighting a battle that isn't against flesh and blood, as Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

As we look out into this new year, let's choose to rise up, pick up our swords, and intercede against the kingdom of darkness. If you're interested in joining the Her Voice Movement, I'll be happy to guide you on how to get involved. Together, let's make 2024 a year of purposeful prayer and impactful intercession, shutting the gates of hell that threaten our nation and our freedom.

Her Voice Movement is rallying up people to pray at their states capitols on April 13 and in DC in October. You can find out all the information on her website.  I don’t know about you but I don’t want to leave this mess to my children and grandchildren. We are being called like Esther was to save her people. We are called for such a time as this. Now tag you are it. Check out how to get involved below.
