🌿 This Life Is Temporary—But Eternity with Jesus Is Forever
Let’s be honest—some days feel like a full-on battle just to get out of bed, right? Life can be heavy. There are seasons where the pain, the stress, or the loss feels like it’s too much. And in those moments, it’s easy to forget that this isn’t all there is.
But friend, I want to gently remind you today: this life is temporary. No matter what you're walking through, it won’t last forever. The sickness, the struggle, the heartbreak—it’s all part of a world that’s fading away. But our hope? It’s anchored in eternity. And not just any eternity—but one spent with Jesus.
When the Bottom Falls Out
I know what it’s like to feel like the world is crashing down. I’ve walked through one of the hardest valleys a person can experience—the loss of a child. I lost my precious baby boy when he was just 4 months old. There are no words big enough to explain that kind of pain. No band-aid Scripture that makes that kind of loss “feel better.”
But here’s what I can tell you: Jesus met me there. Not from a distance—not with clichés or empty comfort—but with His presence. In the middle of the weeping, the questions, the gut-wrenching grief—He came close.
And He didn’t just visit. He stayed.
What We See Isn’t All There Is
2 Corinthians 4:17–18 says:
“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”
Now, when you're in the middle of deep loss, that verse can sound almost offensive. Light? Momentary? But when I read it now through the lens of eternity, I get what Paul was saying. He wasn’t minimizing pain—he was magnifying the glory that’s coming. There’s more than this broken world. And every tear we cry here will be redeemed there.
He Walks With Us Through It
Colossians 3:1–2 reminds us to
“Set your minds on things above, not on things that are on earth.”
I’ll be honest—after my loss, I couldn’t lift my eyes at first. But Jesus gently lifted my chin. He reminded me that this life isn’t all there is. And He reminded me of the beauty that comes when we allow Him into our hardest stories.
I didn’t just get comfort—I got Him. And there’s no greater treasure.
We’re Not Home Yet
Hebrews 13:14 says:
“This world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.”
That truth brings such peace. It doesn’t erase the ache, but it gives it perspective. This world, with all its pain and imperfection, is not our final destination. One day, every broken thing will be made whole. Every tear will be wiped away.
And my baby? He’s already there—in perfect peace, in the presence of Jesus.
He’s Promised Forever
Jesus said in John 14:2–3:
“I go to prepare a place for you… I will come back and take you to be with Me.”
That promise keeps me going. It reminds me that this separation isn’t forever. It reminds me that eternity is real, and it's waiting—and Jesus is there. That changes everything.
Romans 8:18 says:
“The sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”
One day, the pain will make sense. One day, the suffering will seem small in comparison to the overwhelming glory of being with Him—forever.
We Get Him Now, Too
Here’s the beautiful part: eternity with Jesus is our hope, but His presence is our gift now.
He enters our sorrow. He holds us through the sleepless nights. He sits in the silence with us. And if we let Him in, He brings peace where there should be none. He brings beauty from the ashes. He’s not just our destination—He’s our companion along the way.
So what does that mean for us today?
It means when the storms hit, we cling to the One who promises to be with us. When the road gets long, we remember it’s not forever. And when the enemy whispers that it’s all for nothing, we hold onto truth—Jesus is preparing a place for us, and one day, we’ll be with Him forever.
You are not alone in what you’re facing. And this isn’t all there is.
Keep going. Eyes on eternity. Jesus is walking with you. And if you’re in a hard season like I was, let Him in. There’s beauty—even in your brokenness—when He is near.
In Him,
