Come Away With Me

Writer's picture: Heather BradleyHeather Bradley

Have you ever heeded the call to come away with Jesus? This past week I was invited to do just that. A friend of mine planned this wonderful 2 day prayer retreat with a few of her friends. Let me tell you it was wonderful. We stayed at a little farm house with all kinds of animals roaming freely around us. Ponies, Alpacas, Cows, Goats, Chickens, Turkeys and Ducks. The baby goats were beyond cute. We could look right out the windows and there they were! There was no agenda but to spend time with Jesus. We would come together here and there to pray, worship and take communion. We would encourage one another and share what Jesus was speaking to us. It was beautiful. No rush to do anything, but to spend time in His presence. My friend had been given a scripture she felt prompted to share with us for our time away from Song of Solomon 2:10-17, it says,

“My beloved speaks and says to me:“Arise, my love, my beautiful one,    and come away,

11

for behold, the winter is past;    the rain is over and gone.

12

The flowers appear on the earth,    the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove    is heard in our land.

13

The fig tree ripens its figs,    and the vines are in blossom;    they give forth fragrance.Arise, my love, my beautiful one,    and come away.

14

O my dove, in the clefts of the rock,    in the crannies of the cliff, let me see your face,    let me hear your voice, for your voice is sweet,    and your face is lovely.

15

Catch the foxes for us,    the little foxesthat spoil the vineyards,    for our vineyards are in blossom.”

16

My beloved is mine, and I am his;    he grazes  among the lilies.

17

Until the day breathes    and the shadows flee, turn, my beloved, be like a gazelle    or a young stag on cleft mountains.”

The Scripture says to “Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away!” Jesus had invited us to come away with Him. I have to share that it was so amazing to sit with Jesus and have no agenda. He poured His love on us and drew us closer to Him. He even showed off on our last morning by dropping Gold Dust from heaven on the table we were sitting at. This supernatural experience I believe is just the beginning of what He wants to do for all of His Bride across the nations. As, I pondered through this scripture and this retreat I wanted to share a few things with you.

*Jesus desires us to come away with Him and create a close intimacy with Him. We are called His bride. He longs to be our Husband, along with Him also being our Father, Savior, King, Lord, Counselor, Comforter, Prince of Peace, Healer, Provider, Miracle worker, Friend, etc-the list goes on and on. He wants to spend time with us and be close in relationship is the point.

*It’s in the quiet that we can hear His still small voice. Our Spirit’s can hear His Spirit-in the secret place with Him-inside of us.

*No one can share in this secret place reserved for each one of us and Him. Just like a husband and wife has a set apart relationship of intimacy-we too are called into a special, intimate place with Him as our Spirit’s commune.

*I encourage you to read the book of the Song of Solomon with fresh eyes-see it as Jesus is calling us into this place of intimacy.

*The scripture said the winter season had gone and the flowers are appearing-the turtledove’s voice is heard. I believe this is a prophetic word for many of us. We are walking out of a long, winter season that felt dry and barren. We are entering into a spring season with new possibilities and greater clarity of His voice.

*He says He wants to see our face and hear our voices. He longs to spend time with us.

*Notice the part of the scripture that says to catch the foxes. I began to ask the Holy Spirit to show me what “foxes” could be hindering me from my time with God and from hearing Him clearly or experiencing His intimacy.

I pray that you too find time to come away with Jesus and see His heart for you. To take time to sit in silence to hear Him and create an intimate relationship together.

In Him,

Heather Bradley
