Mama, keep bringing that child to Jesus

Maybe you raised them in church. You taught them the Word. You prayed with them, worshiped with them, and pointed them toward truth.

But now they are making choices you never imagined. They have turned away from God, and some days, the weight of it feels almost unbearable.

I understand. I am still praying for one of my children too.

We cannot control our children’s decisions, but we can continue to love them, speak truth to them, and bring them before the throne of God every single day.

Our job is not to shame them back to Jesus.Our job is not to argue them back to Jesus.Our job is to love them through whatever they are walking through while continuing to point them toward the One who can save, heal, restore, and set them free.

God’s heart is for them.

“He wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.”—1 Timothy 2:4

So we keep praying that the Holy Spirit will open their eyes. We pray that the lies of the enemy will be exposed. We pray that they will remember what they have been taught and, like the prodigal son, finally come to their senses.

“When he came to his senses, he said… ‘I will set out and go back to my father.’”—Luke 15:17–18

Mama, do not underestimate what is happening when you pray.

Every time you whisper their name before God, you are fighting for them. Every time you refuse to give up, you are standing in faith. Every time you bring them into the throne room of grace, you are placing them into the hands of the Father who loves them even more than you do.

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence.”—Hebrews 4:16

Jesus taught us to “always pray and not give up.”—Luke 18:1

So we will not grow weary. We will not allow what we see today to convince us that God is finished writing their story.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”—Galatians 6:9

Keep loving them.Keep speaking truth.Keep the door open.Keep believing that no one is too far gone for Jesus.

And keep praying. No matter how old they are!

Because if we do not fight for our children in prayer, who will?

Father, bring our children to their senses. Break every lie, remove every influence that is drawing them away from You, and awaken their hearts to Your truth. Remind them who they are and lead them safely home. Give us the strength to love them well, speak truth with grace, and persevere in prayer until we see Your purposes fulfilled in their lives. In Jesus’ name, amen.
